Education: Bachelor of Arts, Early Childhood Education — DePaul University. Teaching Experience: Mrs. Piper is starting her eighth year at Santa Maria and has thoroughly enjoyed teaching 2nd grade since 1999. She has 18 years experience - 16 in the Archdiocese of Chicago Mrs. Piper is responsible for preparing students for two Sacraments: Reconciliation and First Eucharist AWARDS: Golden Key National Honor Society Philosophy: Teaching in the primary grade levels has taught me to be a more patient and open minded human being. I thoroughly enjoy observing how the mind of a second grader works! They are so observant, resilient and eager to learn new things! I firmly believe that a classroom that has books, resources and manipulatives that are easily accessible to the students are essential in a primary-friendly learning environment. The students have an appealing room filled with color and thematic scenes. I have given the children free reign to decorate the classroom for the holidays. The students should be able to enjoy showing their work in class and in the halls of school. The children are so proud of their own progress and abilities when they see their work displayed in the halls. Interesting Facts: Mrs. Piper has a daughter who attends Santa Maria. |
